the following: a) Funding assistance for carnivals due to the change in catering rules with the Arena b) Funding assistance to provide members access to professional coaching c) Subsidy to certain social events Moved: G Potts Seconded: C Kerman This brought opportunity across the floor to open up a discussion in relation to the CBMST 2007, many points were made: · Arena will only allow us to cater for one free sausage sizzle per year and one fund raiser, however that does not mean we can bring soups, sandwiches, cakes etc, only sausage sizzle.(V Shelver) · Need strong committee for CBMST, should not be a fundraiser for outside organisation, it needs to be an open event and too much is involved to just hold s a club event(C Kerman, supported by B Temby) · Largest event of the year for the club and biggest fund raiser, originally to support Cancer council · At the end of the year we could maybe provide a donation to Cancer Council if we have enough funds left · Same cost if open or club event(C Kiellor) · W Holtam of WA Aussi Masters stated that the same rules apply as far as safety requirements whether an open or club event(L Quayle) · The main cost that prevented us holding the CBMST 2007 was the $1400 to be charged to us by Surf Life Saving (B Temby) · Why do we need professional coaches, when our club maybe has the most in the Aussi network, and did the motion mean individual needs?(K Burns) · Not individual, only group sessions, a suggestion that B Kirby could do a session with all our current coaches, like Kareena Preston has provided to mixed groups of coaches and swimmers · J Burns suggested an amendment relating to operational expenditure by allowing the committee the decision of how the money be spent based on the 3 items listed in the motion · A percentage of the proceeds should still be donated to the Cancer Council rather than making a decision at the end of the year(N Davey) · Maybe Cancer Council should donate some prizes(C Kerman) · Do the club sign a 12 month contract, and can the Arena change the rules annually?(D Teagle) – V Shelver confirmed this as YES · S Vaughn proposed we give a portion to Cancer Council and that it remains a committee decision as to how much to be donated, seconded by C Kiellor, - as this is an amendment to the motion, a vote by all was required and passed as a majority, which now becomes a motion – passed by all 10 Was suggested that we now form a sub committee for the CBMST: Members that have offered their service are: L Bergin/M Terry/A Warnes/M Ernst/G Potts The president would like to thank
